§ Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much money is being allocated by Her Majesty's Government in 1969 for research into the problem of the autistic child.
§ Mr. Edward ShortI would refer the hon. Lady to the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Blackley, on 19th December last. The estimated expenditure in 1969 on Dr. Rutter's project referred to in that answer is £2,000. In addition work on the problem of the autistic child is included as part of the Medical Research Council's research programme in the field of mental health and applied psychology but no figure is available of the expenditure directly attributable to the work on autistic children within this programme.—[Vol. 775, c.439–40.]
