§ Dr. Winstanleyasked the Minister of Transport what is the average age of the members of the panel of inspectors appointed by the Minister of Transport to hold public inquiries into traffic regulation orders; what are the ages of the youngest and the oldest members of the panel, respectively; and what provision exists for the removal of members from the panel on grounds of age or incapacity.
§ Mr. MarshMost of the inspectors are between 67 and 72 years of age, the average age being about 70. The youngest is 65 and the oldest 85.
There is no hard and fast rule on age grounds for removal from the panel, but the capacity of persons appointed and the overall composition of the panel by age are the subject of continuous review. If change is needed on either score it can be made.
