§ Mr. Macdonaldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how much of the £7 million provided specially to assist the introduction of comprehensive education has been asked for by the London Borough of Bromley.
§ Mr. Edward ShortI received no specific bids from the authority before I allocated the £7 million available in each of the two years 1968–69 and 1969–70. I have, however, authorised extensions to the Ravensbourne School costing £143,000 out of the resources for 1968–69, and two further secondary projects costing £832,000 in the 1970–71 major building programme. These will help considerably with implementation of the authority's reorganisation plans.

§ Mr. Edward ShortMy officers are in regular touch with the authority. The three secondary projects which I have authorised, costing almost £1 million, will enable considerable progress to be made in the implementation of its plans. Meanwhile local discussions are continuing about the interim arrangements for changes in the method of selection.
