HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 cc303-4W
Mr. Maclennan

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many Servicemen recruited under the age of 18 years have formally sought release prior to the completion of their period of service in each of the last four years.

Mr. Boyden

The discharge of Servicemen is in the main delegated to commands and establishments. It would require an unjustifiable amount of time and administrative effort to assemble and analyse this information. The reasons for an application for discharge by an adult serviceman at a particular time may have no necessary relationship, of course, to whether he was recruited before or after the age of 18.
