HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 cc289-90W
Mr. Eldon Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in view of the limits on public expenditure for the police service, he will ensure that a larger proportion of the available money is spent on providing police officers, by reducing, when necessary, the amount spent on civilianisation.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

I am satisfied that the increases for the current year to which my right hon. Friend has asked police authorities to conform will pre- serve a proper balance between police officers and civilians.
