HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 c296W
64. Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what new initiative he now proposes to make progress with Great Britain's application to join the European Economic Community; and what interim discussions he is having with Commonwealth and European Free Trade Association interests.

Mr. Mulley

No new initative is required. As to the second part of the Question, consultation with Commonwealth countries is a continuing process, and we are, of course, always prepared to discuss their interests with them; regarding discussion with our E.F.T.A. partners I have nothing to add to the reply my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave today to the hon. Member for Oswestry (Mr. Biffen).—[Vol. 784, c.300–1.]
