HC Deb 12 June 1969 vol 784 c292W
Mr. Boston

asked the Postmaster-General, when he expects colour television to be available to viewers in North-East Kent.

Mr. Stonehouse

B.B.C.2 colour programmes can already be received in much of North-East Kent (provided that efficient sets and aerials are used) from the U.H.F. stations at Dover and Sudbury B.B.C.1 and independent television programmes transmitted on U.H.F. and in colour are expected to start from Dover in early 1970 and from Sudbury in 1971. The North-Kent U.H.F. station, which is expected to open in 1972, will transmit all three programmes to people living in the central parts of the county.
