HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c603W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer on what date his Department received the proposals of the Select Committee on the House of Commons (Services) concerning the subsistence allowance paid to Members who are delegates to the Council of Europe and similar bodies; and why his Department has so far not replied, in view of the stress of urgency by the Select Committee.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The report from the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee was received on 28th March. This report raised important points of policy concerning the administration of the British Parliamentary delegations. In consequence, it was necessary that a detailed review of the present system of administering the delegations should be carried out, taking into account the policy and practice of the international organisations concerned.

It is hoped that a reply will be given to the Accommodation and Administration Sub-Committee in the near future.
