HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c575W
Mr. Raphael Tuck

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will now take the necessary action to ensure that all hospitals when giving treatment for persons not normally resident in this country should secure payment for treatment given under National Health Service facilities.

Mr. Crossman

Persons who come to this country for the purpose of receiving hospital treatment are already required to pay for it as private patients. Free emergency treatment is given to overseas visitors who have an accident or fall ill while in this country and I would not propose to alter this arrangement.
