Mr. John Morris

The standard procurement regulations in use by all Government Departments are applied.

Mr. Marples

asked the Secretary of State for Defence for the latest year for which figures are available, what was the total departmental expenditure on navigation instruments; how this is divided between air and sea navigation equipment; and what proportion of each contract category was placed as a result of competitive tendering.

Mr. John Morris

Air navigation equipment is bought for the Ministry of Defence by the Ministry of Technology. The total Ministry of Defence expenditure for 1968–69 on navigation equipment for sea and land use was £2.68 million.
