HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 cc499-500W
Mr. Judd

asked the Attorney-General whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT details of the number of times in each of the past five years that the Lord Chancellor's Department has sent letters to magistrates cautioning them or requesting explanations or assurances about their personal conduct; in what circumstances such letters were sent; what criteria were used in deciding so to write; and what was the result in each case.

The Attorney-General

The amount of work involved in producing the information for which my hon. Friend asks would not be justified. In any event, communications between my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor and those occupying judicial positions are confidential.
