HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c497W
Mr. Alasdair Mackenzie

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will extend the quality grading regulations for apples, pears, cucumbers, tomatoes and cauliflowers to cover their sale in the wholesale and retail trade.

Mr. Hoy

The grading regulations already apply to these commodities when sold through wholesale channels. To extend statutory grading to the retail level would require amending legislation which my right hon. Friend does not at present consider would be justified.
