HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 c576W
Sir Richard Glyn

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many cases of food poisoning in the year to the last convenient date have been proved to be caused by knacker's meat; and in how many of these cases food inspectors found that the existing regulations had been complied with in every detail.

Mr. Crossman

The causal agent is discovered in about 80 per cent. of food poisoning incidents. But only a small proportion can be traced to particular vehicles of infection. However, in 1967 8 cases were attributed to knacker meat.
