HC Deb 25 July 1969 vol 787 cc558-9W
Mr. Marples

asked the Minister for Public Building and Works what was the total annual value of contracts placed by his Department from 1964 until the latest year for which figures are available, in total and by industry order; and what percentage of the total, and of each industry order, was placed as a result of competitive tendering in each year.

Mr. John Silkin

The value of contracts placed by my Department for the purchase of goods during the period 1st April, 1964 to 31st March, 1969, is given in the tables below. The percentage of contracts let annually as a result of competitive tendering is shown; it is not possible to apportion this to each industry without further investigation involving substantial staff effort.
