HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 cc492-3W
Gwynfor Evans

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what proportions of the total sum spent by the Government in 1968–69 on all goods and services purchased or hired by the Government were spent in Wales and England, respectively; and what was the total sum involved.

Mr. Taverne

Final figures for 1968–69 are not yet available. Figures from major purchasing Departments suggest a total for England and Wales of about £1,400 million, of which a little more than 2½ per cent. relates to purchases and hirings in Wales.
