HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 c471W
Mr. Ron Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what progress is being made in the pay talks for workers employed in the State Management Scheme; and if, in view of the lack of comparability with workers in other areas, he will take steps to conclude the talks without delay.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

No official pay talks are currently in progress within the State Management Scheme but a detailed review of the brewery, stores and transport sections is being carried out. The review will provide a basis for negotiations with the representatives of the staff concerned on a productivity agreement to replace the interim increase granted earlier this year. Such a review must of necessity be a detailed one, but every effort will be made to conclude it as quickly as possible.
