HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 cc472-3W
Mr. Alexander Lyon

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether, as he undertook to the local authority associations in January, 1969, he has now reviewed the limit of £30 million on local authority mortgage lending during the financial year 1969–70; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. K. Robinson

My right hon. Friend's undertaking was to review this limit after six months, and he has done this. I have advised the local authority associations that the Government are now prepared to increase the limit for the current year from £30 million to £55 million; and I have invited them to enter into early discussion with the Department on how the extra £25 million should be allocated between authorities.
