HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 c418W
37. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the minimum age at which a person will qualify for inclusion in the 1970–71 electoral register as a "Y" voter as at 10th October. 1969.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

The youngest persons eligible for inclusion in the 1970 register of electors will be those whose eighteenth birthday is on 15th February, 1971. There will be no "Y" voters as such in that or any future register. Persons whose eighteenth birthday occurs during the currency of a register will be able to vote at elections held on or after that birthday.
