asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases of the offences of violence against the person, and of robbery occurred in the Manchester and Salford Police Area in 1966, 1967 and 1968; and how many were cleared up.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will sponsor research on crimes of violence in the Manchester and Salford area in liaison with the University of Manchester.

I would refer my hon. Friend to my reply to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe (Mr. Alfred Morris), on 17th July. I am arranging for statistics of offences of violence in Manchester to be compared with those for other large cities; and I will give my hon.
