§ Mr. Alexander Lyonasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement on the report of the Monopolies Commission on the supply and export of rods for cigarette filter tips.
§ Mr. CroslandThe report was published this morning. The Commission has found that monopoly conditions prevail both as regards the supply and the export from the United Kingdom of rods for cigarette filter tips. The Commission has concluded, however, that neither the conditions nor anything done by the parties concerned as a result of or for the purpose of preserving those conditions, operate or may be expected to operate against the public interest.
I accept the Commission's conclusions.
