HC Deb 24 July 1969 vol 787 cc451-2W
Mr. Ednyfed Hudson Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what consideration he is giving to representations from local authorities and others on the recommendations contained in the Collcon Report about the future line of the A55 trunk road; and what steps he will take to make further feasibility studies of possible alternative routes.

Mr. George Thomas

I have decided to appoint consulting engineers to carry out further studies. They will be asked to review all the possible routes in the "Collcon" Report taking into account comments from local authorities and others, together with any other routes which appear to them to have merit and to make firm recommendations which will enable me to publish draft Orders under the Highways Act to establish the line of the road. I should like to express my thanks to all those who have sent me comments on the proposals in the "Collcon" Report; if any one wishes to send further comments I shall be glad to consider them.
