Mr. Hugh Jenkinsasked the President of the Board of Trade what action he is now taking to implement Section 3.9 of Resolution 69.1 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which calls for the routeing of aircraft to prevent intrusion of noise in recreational, rest and residential areas.
§ Mr. William RodgersMinimum noise routeings designed to keep disturbance to the minimum were introduced at Heathrow in 1961. Other airports at which similar arrangements have since been adopted include Birmingham, Gatwick, Leeds/Bradford, Liverpool, Luton, Manchester, Southampton and Stansted.
