§ Mr. Hoosonasked the Secretary of State for Wales what plans he has to make an Order under Section 7 of the Highways Act, 1959, in respect of a proposed by-pass at Welshpool; and if he will take steps to acquaint the general public in Montgomeryshire generally, and in Welsh-pool in particular, of the proposed line of the by-pass before such an Order is made.
§ Mr. George ThomasThese scheme is now going through the normal process of preparation, which involves first advertising in draft the Order to establish the line of the road. I hope to do this next year. A notice will be published in two local newspapers and in theLondon Gazette saying where people may inspect the draft Order and plans. I shall not make any Order until people have had three months to make objections and until I am satisfied, in the light of objections and, if necessary, a public inquiry, that the best line has been found.
