Sir G. de Freitasasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will call a conference of member and applicant states of the European Economic Community to consider the development of a multi-national programme of youth exchange similar to that already existing between France and the Federal Republic of Germany.
§ Mr. MulleyWe are considering what action might be taken towards raising the level of exchanges between this country and other Western European countries, but we do not think that a conference would serve any useful purpose at this stage.
§ Mr. Richardasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will undertake a study of action to be taken to increase the level of 239W exchanges between young persons from industry, commerce, and the professions and education in the United Kingdom and Italy; and if he will make a statement.
