§ Mr. M. StewartSome progress has been made in the Four-Power talks. My hon. Friend will not expect me to go into details. The four have decided to fix the date of their next meeting at a later time because of important consultations which are taking place among Governments. A working group of deputies will continue to meet.

Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a further statement on the situation in the Middle East and on the progress made following the Four-Power Conference in respect of the invitations to the Arab States by Israel to meet them with a view to discussions taking place between them to arrive at a permanent peaceful settlement.
