Mr. Fortescueasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that the Association of Child Care Officers has now recommended its members not to accept employment in areas where the local authority has introduced an organisation on lines contrary to the recommendations of the Seebohm Committee; and, in view of the danger that the Child Care Service will break down, if he will now implement the relevants parts of the Seebohm Report.
§ Mr. CallaghanYes. I am aware of the urgency in this matter.
My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services and I have stated in replies to Questions that we shall reach and announce our decisions on the report as soon as possible. Meanwhile no action should be taken by local authorities that might subsequently prove to be incompatible with those decisions.
