§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a further statement about the progress made towards the establishment of the Open University; and what is the estimated cost to date.
§ Miss Jennie LeeThe University has received its Charter. The headquarters is being established at Milton Keynes, and work is in progress on the first stage of the buildings. Enrolments will begin in the autumn of 1970 and the University is due to start operating in January, 1971. Expenditure in 1968–69 was £130,000 and in 1969–70 is estimated at £1.7 million.
