§ Dr. Grayasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) how many of the conservation areas in 24 towns and villages being considered for formal designation by the Norfolk County Council are in the constituency of Yarmouth: (2) which parts of Great Yarmouth are being considered for formal designation as conservation areas; and whether the villages of Thune and Winterton-on-Sea and the village greens and adjacent lanes of Martham and Thune are in the provisional list.
§ Mr. K. RobinsonGreat Yarmouth County Borough Council tells me that it is considering the following seven areas for designation as conservation areas:
- Camperdown/Albert Square area.
- Church Plain area.
- Britannia Terrace area.
136 - Hall Quay and South Quay area.
- King Street area.
- High Street, Gorleston (part).
- Pier Plain, Gorleston (part).
Priority is being given to the first three.
Thurne and Winterton-on-Sea and the village greens and adjacent lanes of Martham and Thurne are in the county of Norfolk. The county council is not, I understand, at present proposing to designate these areas, or any other parts of the Yarmouth constituency, as conservation areas.
