Russellasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a list of countries to which dogs were exported in the first five months of 1969, together with the quantities and values to each; and if he will state, from information available to him from international sources, which of the importing countries have legislation in force against cruelty to animals.
§ Mr. John MackieApart from greyhounds, which are separately recorded, dogs are included in the trade statistics heading for other live quadrupeds not normally used for human food. Separate figures are not available.
According to information received last year from the International Society for the Protection of Animals, the great majority of the importing countries have laws against cruelty to animals.
