§ Mr. Channonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the number of grants and loans so far made for churches under the Local Authorities (Historic Buildings) Act 1962; and what is the total of such help, distinguishing between cathedral and parochial churches.
§ Mr. GreenwoodLocal authorities do not require my consent for such payments in respect of statutorily listed buildings (nor since 1st January, 1969, in respect of any other buildings). I regret therefore that I do not have the information requested. To obtain it would involve asking local authorities for a special return and I do not think I should be justified in doing so.
