HC Deb 04 July 1969 vol 786 c142W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the estimated increase in rates, earnings and productivity arising from the claim of Port of London lockmen who have recently engaged in strike action.

Mr. Hattersley

A provisional claim has been made on behalf of lockmen employed by the Port of London Authority, of whom those in the India and Millwall dock were on unofficial strike from 30th June to 3rd July, that they should be placed in a higher grade in the new structure proposed by the Authority in its Marine Services Division. Details are not yet available of the effect on existing rates, earnings and productivity of the Authority's proposals.
