HC Deb 03 July 1969 vol 786 c119W
47 and 48. Mr. Hay

asked the Postmaster-General (1) by what means he proposes to ensure that the ultra high frequency-only type of television receiver generally available in future will operate on the Post Office very high frequency system of television relay; and whether he will provide modification of such receivers or conversion equipment free of charge to the subscribers;

(2) whether he will take steps to ensure satisfactory and interference-free reception of all programmes carried by the Post Office very high frequency system of television relay to all aerial receivers connected thereto at no extra cost to the subscriber.

Mr. Stonehouse

I am considering the most satisfactory arrangements by which users of receivers tunable only to ultrahigh frequency television may receive the very-high frequency signals used in the Post Office system.
