§ Mr. Roebuckasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the concern among members of the staff of London Transport about the number of recent assaults on them by passengers; and whether he will now arrange for fresh consultations to take place between the Metropolitan Police, the management of London Transport and the unions to seek more effective ways of dealing with this problem.
§ Mr. CallaghanYes; I share the concern which is felt about this form of violence, and I arranged recently for the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police and representatives of the employers and unions to consider what might be done. The Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis will gladly consider further suggestions.
