HC Deb 03 July 1969 vol 786 cc137-8W
Mr. McNamara

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) what advice he has given to the Humber Pilot Scheme Cutter Company in the light of the effect of official trade dispute on the company's vessels;

(2) what steps he is taking to ensure adequate pilotage facilities in the Humber Estuary in view of the continuation of the dispute between the Humber Pilot Scheme Cutter Company and the Transport and General Workers Union.

Mr. Crosland

I am aware of the difficulties which the official strike of some members of the crew of the Pilot Cutter "Frank Atkinson" have caused to the pilotage service in the Humber. However, adequate pilotage services are being maintained. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity has offered the conciliation services of her Department to the parties to the dispute.
