§ Mr. MasonI control the scale and timing of the nuclear power station programme through my statutory approval of the C.E.G.B.'s capital programme and my statutory consent for individual stations. In giving these approvals I have regard to the latest load forecasts and other considerations. Of the second nuclear programme, four stations with a capacity of 5,000 MW have been started, a somewhat slower rate than envisaged in the Fuel Policy White Paper (Cmnd. 3438).
