§ Mr. BuchanIn November and December, 1968, the total road casualties in Scotland and the child casualties among them both showed a decrease from 1967. The detailed figures suggest that British Standard Time may have been responsible for reducing the number of road casualties, but I shall reserve judgment until statistics for the whole of the winter have been studied.

The Joint Committee of the Health Service Councils on Vaccination and Immunisation advised against any general vaccination of the population. They suggested however that vaccination should be offered to patients suffering from certain types of chronic diseases whose condition would be aggravated by influenza, and to doctors and nurses who might be required to deal with an epidemic.
