§ Mr. CallaghanIn Carlisle the offices of the Carlisle and District State Management Scheme were closed on New Year's Day, as has been the practice for many years. Elsewhere, there is a normal arrangement for staff to take a day's holiday in addition to Christmas Day 349W and Boxing Day but all offices are manned except on these two days and, in Carlisle only, on New Year's Day.
