HC Deb 29 January 1969 vol 776 c334W
58. Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made with the installation of blind-landing equipment in British aircraft and at British airports; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. William Rodgers

The Air Corporations are providing an automatic landing capability for a substantial part of their fleets and it is expected that they will be cleared for landing in runway visabilities of 500 metres in the course of 1969.

Heathrow, Gatwick and Liverpool are expected to have corresponding ground facilities on the same timescale. Clearance of aircraft and improvement of ground facilities for automatic landing in lower visibilities there and at other aerodromes will follow.
