§ 42. Sir D. Walker-Smithasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the amount of time and money required to ascertain the expenditure incurred by each of those Government Departments which took measures in regard to the demonstration in London on Sunday, 27th October.
§ Mr. DiamondIt would be necessary for a large number of Departments to attempt to work out in detail from a variety of records the cost of each of the different measures they took together with an estimate of the relevant administrative costs, and for the whole exercise and its results to be co-ordinated centrally. I have no doubt that it would require considerable expenditure of time and money, disproportionate to the value of the information.
