§ 39. Mr. Dalyellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what undertakings he has given to the representatives of the International Monetary Fund in relation to public expenditure.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI have given no such undertaking. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary's Letter of Intent of 23rd November, 1967, stated the Government's intention to keep the borrowing requirement for 1968–69 under £1,000 million. In fact, it is likely to be far smaller.
