§ Mr. Kitsonasked the Postmaster-General what plans he has for making available colour television channels for British Broadcasting Corporation programmes for Newcastle; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. StonehouseFrequency channels in the U.H.F. bands have already been allotted to the Corporation for the transmission of B.B.C.1 and B.B.C.2 on the 625-line standard. B.B.C.2, with its colour content, is already broadcast from the station at Pontop Pike. The B.B.C. tells me that transmission of B.B.C.1 on 625 lines, also with colour, should start in the spring of 1970 if all goes well.
