§ Mr. John MackieThe current annual cost to this Department of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is about £625,000, including the maintenance of the grounds. Of this it is estimated that £395,000 is attributable to research and £230,000 to other services, but there are no figures available to show what part of the latter sum is used in maintaining those parts of the grounds that are open to the public.
