§ Mr. John MackieMy right hon. Friend is responsible for about 1,550 statutory appointments, the majority of which (some 1,310) relate to England and Wales only. Of the total number, he makes some 240 appointments jointly with the Secretary of State for Scotland, and/or the Secretary of State for the Home Department, to committees, boards, authorities, etc., which are concerned with Great Britain interests. Of these joint appointments, some 50 of the present members have Scottish addresses.
