§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will refer to the National Board for Prices and Incomes for investigation the system whereby employees in Central London of nationalised industries and Government Departments qualify for a cost-of-living increment not available to their counterparts in Scotland.
§ Mrs. HartNo. The Civil Service system of London Weighting has already been the subject of a report by the National Board for Prices and Incomes (Report No. 44 published as Cmnd. 3436 of November 1967), and its recommendations were accepted by the Government. The Board suggested that the same principles should be adopted by other employers. The pay of nationalised industry staff is not a matter for the Minister for the Civil Service.
