HC Deb 26 February 1969 vol 778 c299W
63. Mr. Charles Morrison

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what research is being undertaken into the greater usage of home-grown wheat for bread making; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hoy

There is continuous and extensive research into the development and assessment of new wheat varieties suitable for breadmaking, and into baking techniques enabling a higher proportion of home grown wheats to be used in bread flour grists. It is carried on over a wide field, including plant breeding and testing establishments and the research effort of the flour milling and baking industry.
