asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he has now considered the Report of the Joint Review Body on Local Authority Purchasing; and if he will make a statement.

The Report of the Joint Review Body on Local Authority Purchasing was published on 23rd January. It is a valuable study which makes a number of major recommendations designed to co-ordinate the purchasing activities of local authorities.

Before reaching a final view on those recommendations, which are addressed to both Government Departments and the local authorities, my right hon. Friend will want to discuss the Report with those concerned. He hopes to do this shortly.
