§ Mr. Peter Walkerasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what conclusions he has reached on the recommendations of the Working Party on Refuse Collection, which reported in December, 1966; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. SkeffingtonAction on the recommendations is largely for local authorities to consider and in May, 1967 my right hon. Friend commended the Working Party's report to them. In view of the current need for restraint on public expenditure there are limits on the extent to which authorities can introduce new methods, but a number of them are experimenting with pilot schemes or preparing plans which can be put into effect when the economic situation permits.
