asked the Minister of Power whether, in view of increased demand and higher steel prices abroad, the British Steel Corporation has increased its export performance; and if he will make a statement.

Finished steel exports by the British Steel Corporation in 1968 are estimated to have reached 361 million tons. The comparable figure for 1967 was 3.43 million tons. Mounting home demand, including steel for manufactured goods for export, may limit the volume of direct steel exports in 1969.
