HC Deb 20 February 1969 vol 778 c158W
Mr. James Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will make a statement about plans for the ports of Stonehaven and Montrose.

Mr. William Ross

Plans for the development of harbours are a matter in the first instance for the harbour authorities concerned, and I have no proposals before me for any future developments at Stonehaven Harbour, which offers adequate facilities for the fishing vessels using the harbour. As regards Montrose, which is a commercial port for which my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport is responsible, I understand that the Harbour Trustees there have recently improved Commercial Quay and are asking him for a port modernisation grant towards the cost.
