HC Deb 18 February 1969 vol 778 c67W
Mr. Leslie Huckfield

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when the borough of Nuneaton will be informed of the amount of rate support grant that it will receive for the forthcoming financial year; and how this will compare with the two previous years.

1965–66 1966–67 1967–68 1968–69
£ £ £ £
Rate Support Grant
Needs Element 5,932,844 4,267,666
Resources Element
Domestic Element 198,301 401,187
Total 6,131,145 4,668,853
General Grant 4,728,824 5,153,241
Rate deficiency grant
Total 4,728,824 5,153,241

The figures for the needs element of rate support grants are the amounts after deduction of the proportion to be transferred to the Great London Council—1/9th for 1967–68 and 40 per cent. for 1968–69. The transfer of a greater proportion of grant to the G.L.C. is reflected in a reduction in the G.L.C. rate pre cept. No account is taken of the effects of Rate Equalisation Schemes. These for the years 1965–66 to 1967–68 involved redistribution of the general grant and the needs element of rate support grants.
